Most authors are concerned about the availability of their material. Especially if material is available on the internet, it is necessary to ensure that the supplied material is not used by unauthorized persons. Coimbra solves this problem by a two-fold strategy:
- Coimbra encrypts all documents (texts, images, executables, etc.) on the webserver. The material is decrypted on demand when the user is accessing it. Thus the material cannot be copied by the user (except for screen shots), unless you allow him to do so.
- In addition, Coimbra can be set up in a way that the hosting web server runs an authentication protocol. This gives you the security that only authorized persons can access your material.
Of course, as an option you may turn off these security features.
